As a Product Quality Engineer at Sono, you play a crucial role in ensuring the development, component, and system quality, as well as in establishing quality standards for our developed Solar Bus Kit (SBK) and future products. This spans from the conceptualization of components and the overall system to the handover of development results to series production. You are also responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and processes to ensure that our products meet both internal and external quality requirements. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with the development/design, technical integration, and service teams to drive continuous improvements and maintain our commitment to quality.

Responsibilities in detail

  • Ensure the product quality of all components and products of the SBK through close collaboration with development, including feature definition/description and drawing creation/approval
  • Act as the point of contact for quality issues during the development phase for suppliers and internal departments
  • Handle error reports/complaints through root cause analysis and the development and implementation of corrective measures
  • Work closely with design and manufacturing teams to develop and implement effective quality assurance strategies
  • Create, improve, and approve processes, procedures, and documents to ensure component and product quality in the development area
  • Support change management for components and the overall system (SBK)
  • Take responsibility for quality issues during the conceptualization and development phase, including supplier evaluation, manufacturability analysis, and testing of prototype/test parts
  • Develop and conduct training and guidance on quality-related topics and best practices for team members and external partners
  • Prepare and present quality reports and documentation for relevant stakeholders
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
  • A university degree in a technical field or a technical qualification with further training in quality management (QM), product quality, and/or supplier quality
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Experience in implementing QM standards (DIN ISO 9001, IATF 16949)
  • A high level of quality awareness and diligence
  • Experience in quality planning (MA/APQP) and problem-solving methods (8D, Ishikawa, 5Why)
  • Fluency in English and German As you apply for this role, we would like to give you some insights into our company culture and organization. At Sono Motors, we replace the traditional employer-employee relationship with a partnership at eye level. When people transition from large organizations to Sono, we sometimes hear that they miss certain services, support, and infrastructure. We invite you to address these gaps with us. We see you as a creator of our company, not someone who only shows up to do their job. At Sono Motors, you take matters into your own hands, and you will achieve the desired impact. Our CEOs will work alongside you, and together with the entire Sono team, you will lead our organization. We expect you to take the initiative, contribute to our organizational development, accept imperfection, and communicate transparently. We call this #staysono; this is our culture.
