Job Description

The Challenge Sensorfact’s mission is to reduce the human environmental footprint by eliminating all waste in the
industry. Our machine-level sensors allow our customers to monitor their consumption (electricity, gas,
water, compressed air), production speed, and machine health at high resolutions. Our extensive
analysis suite provides them with personalised advice to run their machines more efficiently. As our
Data Analyst you will be responsible for developing and extending the codebase behind this analysis
suite and support the development team in the development of new features, in the form of data
quality checks and evaluating usage statistics. Your work will be crucial to our company’s future: our
advice is at the heart of our value proposition.

If you are a talented data analyst that would like to explore moving more towards data and/or backend engineering, then this job is perfect for you. What you'll be doing

  • You will be responsible for designing and extending Python-based algorithms that allow our
consultants to identify savings for our customers, such as calculating the efficiency gain of
upgrades to a compressed air system, and extending the Python-based project that generates
    recurring reports for customers.
  • You will work closely together with a product manager and domain expert to find new savings
opportunities and define how we could derive these from our sensor data and machine
    metadata.
  • You will support the development team by performing data quality checks on our sensor data
and the features derived from it.
  • You will assist the product manager in identifying and evaluating how features are used.
  • You will continuously improve the codebase using best practices in data wrangling and
analysis with Pandas, object-oriented programming, unit testing, code quality, and much more.
  • You will deploy your own code to production using the backend of our Energy Scan and
Tracking Reports product, which includes a GraphQL API over a PostgresQL database.
  • We have many different skills and personalities in the team, and promote an open and
collaborative working environment. You are encouraged to work together on complex tasks, to
give feedback when you can and actively think about your personal development.
  • Being part of a scale-up, you can work autonomously and are proactive in prioritising and
solving the needs of our fast growing group of customers. The key technologies you will be working with
Our current AWS stack is focused on ingesting and processing raw sensor data in real time using
Kafka and Flink. Processed data is stored in Clickhouse. Batch processing is done using Prefect and
Fargate, on-demand services are deployed using Lambda. We have a powerful internal GraphQL API
to expose data to end users, managed by Hasura.

    How we do it
We do Scrum with 2-week sprints, sprint planning and retrospective sessions. We have daily stand
ups over Google Meet. The course is determined by quarterly goals, set collaboratively by business,
    data, development and product teams.

We know how important it is to get in the zone and write beautiful code so we try to keep meeting
pressure low. We work from home about 70% of the time, but we enjoy meeting each other in the
office regularly.

You are perfect for this job, because you…

  • Have an MSc in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a comparable
    analytical / technical field
  • Are a Data Analyst with 2 years of experience who is fluent in data analysis with Python using
    Pandas and Numpy
  • You have moved ‘beyond Jupyter notebooks’ and are comfortable in building Python modules
    and packages
  • You have experience with or are eager to learn more about programming best practices such
as object-orientation, version control, unit testing, microservices design and code quality, as
well as other disciplines such as backend and/or data engineering
  • (Bonus) have experience with working in AWS
  • Business level fluency in English is mandatory

What we offer
A full time position (32-40hrs), salary, pension, working from home, team activities, training budget –
the usual. We work in a forward-thinking start-up culture with an energetic and engaged team, located
around the corner of Utrecht Centraal. We’ll provide you with an NS-business card or cover your travel
expenses to get there. We know how important it is to have the right tools. Any hardware or software
you need to get your job done: great monitor, the best laptop, standing desk – you’ve got it.#LI-CHIA
