Role Summary The Sr. Visualization Designer is a key role within the Perceived Quality team and represents the lead executor and facilitator of virtual design reviews using XR Lab software and equipment. The role includes development of novel design concepts, high resolution still images, renders and visual aids to support Design development and refinement on Rivian Vehicles, Charging and Adventure Products. The Perceived Quality team, located within the Design Studio, is responsible for ensuring that the sensory experience and design execution of all Rivian products lives up to the brand promise. This includes structured development of the emotional connection bonding customer to product through class-leading sensory interaction, both overt and unarticulated. Within this role, you can expect to be heavily involved in various phases of a product’s development. Including early attribute consumer research, benchmarking and target setting - converting subjective sensory inputs into objective Engineering and Manufacturing specifications. You will support the creation, visualization and refinement of detailed A-Surface and CAD geometry, implement world-class design concepts, and visually communicate Design optimization for Perceived Quality in order to drive best-in-class craftsmanship. This role is dynamic, fast-paced, and multi-faceted where success is dependent upon operating and collaborating cross-functionally within the business. This extremely varied and exciting role allows you to participate in all areas of the design and development process and directly affect the product and customer experience. The opening will be located in, Irvine, CA and will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Perceived Quality. Responsibilities Facilitate XR | VR and Powerwall design reviews using state of the art equipment Define process and methods for VR design reviews Deploy new methods for visualizing digital assets Interface with PLM, IT, Manufacturing and Engineering to enable utilization of digital assets in new and innovative way for collaboration across company activities. Develop novel design solutions to benefit Perceived Quality and Craftsmanship. Utilize visual communication tools to support Perceived Quality issue resolution. Including validation of gap spec studies or tolerance analysis models from CAD within VRED Qualifications This role requires 3-5 years of relevant experience in the following areas: Experience writing code in python, C, and/or Java languages Experience implementing and using 3D visualization tools such as Autodesk VRED Experience implementing and using Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality systems Experience creating and importing 3D assets Knowledge with CATIA, Enovia, or similar tools Knowledge of 3DCS nVIZ Perceived Quality plugin within VRED Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management Strong written and verbal communication A degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent skills and An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team. Working Hours - Full time and on-site Travel Requirements of Position – As required (minimal) Pay Disclosure Salary Range Irvine-Based Applicants: $121,000-$151,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
