Job Description
Pacific Environment
For more than three decades, Pacific Environment has worked to serve people, wildlife, and ecosystems by promoting grassroots activism, strengthening communities, leading strategic campaigns, and working for policy changes. We are headquartered in San Francisco, with regional offices or staff across the United States, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, and with partnerships that span the Pacific Rim.
Pacific Environment and our partners fight fossil fuels and champion clean energy, challenge industrial models that disregard local interests, and bring grassroots concerns—and whenever possible grassroots leaders—to national and international bodies to advocate for policy solutions that reflect community needs and values.
Pacific Environment operates as a campaigner, coalition-builder, grantmaker, and thought partner. We provide direct funding and technical assistance to grassroots environmental activists in the regions where they work. We complement these community-led efforts with national and international coalition-building and advocacy to decision-makers to support policy changes that prioritize local interests and resolve the root causes of environmental challenges. Pacific Environment has a strong track record of local and international achievement.
Pacific Environment seeks to protect communities and wildlife of the Pacific Rim. We support community leaders to fight climate change, protect the oceans, build just societies, and move away from fossil fuels and plastic pollution toward a green economy. Learn more at www.pacificenvironment.org.

As Senior Advancement Manager, you will help develop and execute Pacific Environment’s institutional fundraising strategy to raise our $10M+ and growing budget. This includes prospecting, cultivating and stewarding foundation donors, as well as writing proposals and managing reporting for selected campaigns. And you will work with colleagues to support the strategy development of an evolving organization.
The right candidate will have great management skills, a creative spark, attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and familiarity with environmental, climate change and social justice issues.
The Senior Advancement Manager will report to Pacific Environment’s Senior Advancement Director.
Location and Travel
Pacific Environment staff currently work from home. Greater San Francisco Bay Area local applicants and other California residents are strongly preferred, followed by candidates in other U.S. West Coast states, plus Anchorage, Alaska. However, we will consider highly qualified candidates residing elsewhere in the U.S. This position requires working West Coast Time Zone hours, and potentially some evenings or weekends. Some travel to the Bay Area may be required if the successful candidate is based outside the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The position may also involve some other travel.
