What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is seeking a VP, Deployment (Construction) tasked with establishing and implementing the strategic vision for the future of Distributed Generation (DG) and Utility Scale (US) solar and storage construction for the organization. This will be accomplished through technical expertise, innovative ideas, collaboration with stakeholders and establishing personal relationships with the key regulatory agencies and contractors in our current and future markets. In addition to setting the strategic pace, this position will manage a construction team headed by different regional teams to drive project level execution for solar and storage nationwide. A balance of soft skills, technical acumen, financial comprehension, and an innovative thinker will be empowered to lead the team to be solar and storage construction leader in our industry.
We are considering candidates in our hub offices of Boston and Chicago, where you will be hybrid (3 days/wk). You will report to our Senior Vice President, Clean Energy Deployment.
What you’ll do:
- Ser strategic goals for a construction team that are nested in and support the Company’s national strategy and deliver organizational Permission To Operate (PTO), Substantial Completion (SC), revenue, and margin goals.
- Integrate with Clean Energy Deployment (CED) Operations to provide seamless transition from Pre-Deployment to Deployment inclusive of project pricing approval from Estimation
- Build a team that uses the principals of delivering results, innovation, and agility to drive the best-in-class mindset that we strive to achieve.
- Collaborate with Capital Markets, Policy, Legal, Development, Grid Integration, CED Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, among other groups to facilitate solar and storage construction nationwide.
- Provide guidance, direction, mentorship and support to the Construction team to efficiently and cost effectively build quality commercial solar and storage projects within value engineered specifications and the labor requirements of the IRA Bill.
- Responsible for all construction risk management including contract negotiations, workforce compliance, budget reconciliation, and comp and non-comp budget preparation.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with contractors, government officials, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Set the safety example by working with the Director, Environmental Health & Safety to facilitate a safe working environment on all jobsites and office locations where the Construction team operates.
- Provide senior management and C-level executives accurate and timely construction updates on a regular basis.
What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years solar and/or storage field operations at DG and/or utility scale level, preferably with experience in a PV and/or storage role
- 5+ years cross-functional project leadership with experience leading strategic planning and implementation
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; Technical (Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, Science) Master’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Experience or certified in quality or process excellence methodologies preferred
- Experience managing a team, creating a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across the business
- Team player who can collaborate in developing strategies and provide forward thinking solutions
- Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions
- Previous experience engaging and inspiring teams to excel while focusing on the growth and well-being of team members
