Job Description

About Lithos

Lithos Carbon revolutionizes the carbon capture industry through enhanced rock weathering technology. We work with farmers to spread basalt rock on farmland, which increases soil health and repurposes post-industrial waste. Our technology is aimed at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at a fraction of the cost of other methods, while helping farmers improve crop yields. Our team is made up of industry-leading academic scientists and proven entrepreneurs, and we are backed by top-tier investors including Bain Capital Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, and Greylock Partners. We started commercializing the technology in 2022 and have signed customers for our permanent carbon removal credits including Microsoft, Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, and McKinsey’s Frontier program. You can read about our work in FastCompany and on our blog.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Logistics Coordinator to oversee our carrier relationships and daily trucking operations. This role serves as the primary liaison between our company and contracted trucking partners, ensuring seamless coordination of deliveries while maintaining high service standards. The ideal candidate will excel at building strong carrier relationships while managing complex logistics operations with multiple partners.

Responsibilities

Supervise Day to Day Trucking Operations: Coordinate daily logistics operations across multiple carrier partners and the Lithos Operations team. Develop flexible contingency plans and backup carrier options. Be the first responder to any issues with trucking during deliveries. Work with haulers to quickly resolve issues on-the-ground or escalate them to the appropriate authority as needed.

Act as Primary Point of Contact for existing Carrier Partners: Build and maintain relationships with third-party trucking companies and independent carriers. Negotiate rates and terms with transportation providers. Resolve any service issues and disputes or escalate them to the appropriate level. Review and validate carrier invoices and documentation as needed.

Identify and Develop New Carrier Relationships: Proactively seek out and develop relationships with new trucking companies and independent carriers. Understand and clearly communicate the unique operational considerations of Lithos’ logistics needs to set accurate expectations and build lasting relationships with new partners. Work closely with our business operations and finance team to efficiently onboard carriers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in transportation logistics, carrier management, or other relevant work experience
  • A reliable vehicle and the ability to drive it legally and safely (Driver’s license and insurance)
  • Truck/4WD is recommended
  • You will be compensated for mileage at the standard IRS rate for work-related travel
  • Professional appearance and bearing - can communicate competence and confidence to our diverse farming, vendor, and local partners
  • Ability to spend long periods of time driving, standing, or performing repetitive physical tasks in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - both externally to partners and internally to members of the Lithos team. Ability to distill the big picture, while communicating extremely precise, accurate, and well-documented details on the daily.
  • Comfortable working with technology to communicate with external partners and communicate information and data to Lithos (phone, email as well as Google Suite applications including Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc)

What are we looking for?

You are excited to have a pivotal role in scaling Lithos to the first million — and then billion – tons of permanent carbon removal. We're looking for someone who:

  • Background working with haulers in a fast-paced environment
  • Possesses mental and physical fortitude and grit - this job will be physically demanding some days and we are looking for a candidate who will thrive under pressure and can deal with discomfort.
  • Is willing to get their hands dirty (literally and figuratively) to solve problems in the field and make farmers’ experiences with Lithos as smooth as possible.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and empathy - able to navigate potentially stressful situations to ensure our partners and farmers get what they need from our operations and continue to have strong NPS (Net Promoter Score)
  • Operates with a sense of urgency and precision, and has good instincts on how to prioritize across and approach multiple tasks. You will be trusted to solve problems without a lot of supervision and will be able to do some confidently, transparently, and independently.
  • Proactive mindset - would rather solve problems before they become worse, than wait for instructions on how to proceed. Decisive actions in the field can prevent excess work later on, maintain goodwill with our partners, and save us money!
  • Self-disciplined and motivated to fulfill their work duties as a fully remote employee.

At Lithos, we are doing things that have never been done before at this scale. We are at the cutting edge of what is projected to be a $1.2 trillion dollar industry and we are facing challenges that no one has faced before. That does not mean that they are impossible to overcome, but they are certainly difficult.

Benefits

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (the posted salary for this role is $70,000 - $90,000) and meaningful equity compensation
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision
