As we embark on the exciting journey towards serial production of our ground-breaking Lilium jet, we have an opportunity for a technically strong leader with proven knowledge of propulsion/powertrain manufacturing to take on a critical role in our team!

Your role and your team:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager and working closely with our manufacturing engineers focused on propulsion, you will provide technical overview and leadership. Building strong relationships with our IPT leads, Chief Engineering, design, and production teams, you’ll be a key influencer and decision-maker.

A key player during trade-off discussions and decision-making sessions about propulsion manufacturability, you will confidently handle escalations and conflicts of interest to promote good manufacturing engineering practices and secure product Design for Manufacture /Assembly.

Your Day to Day:

  • Represent the interests of manufacturing engineers in daily stand-ups and priority meetings.
  • Actively contribute to design reviews and production readiness for new product introduction.
  • Mentor your teammates as the resident expert for a variety of manufacturing processes.
  • Working closely with the IPT team lead and Production/Industrial teams, be accountable for the definition of the manufacturing and its associated performance targets in the factory.
  • Responsible for the planning, development, and commissioning of the Manufacturing System for new product introductions. Working with the Design Chief Engineers, considering safety, logistics, quality, producibility, and business case metrics requirements.
  • Responsible for non-recurring manufacturing engineering activities within the program's influence. Providing technical leadership through program management, planning, and budgeting.
  • Decision-making authority in design readiness review (DRR), Program gates, integrated change control boards (ICCB), sourcing board, and high spot meetings.
  • Responsible for product quality within the NPI manufacturing engineering function. Driving a quality mindset within the deployed engineering team and ensuring compliance with agreed customer, regulatory, business, and functional standards

Your Profile:

Demonstrating technical credibility and deep expertise in propulsion/powertrain production (preferably from aerospace or automotive manufacturing), you will bring a pragmatic and decisive approach to complex situations.

Demonstrated deep involvement in high-impact programs from the start of design, through ramp-up, to post-production is essential.

A strong collaborator with proven decision-making and conflict resolution experience, adept at managing cross-functional relationships with teams like Design Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Procurement, and navigating competing priorities.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supply chain quality, or industrial engineering relating to propulsion/powertrain
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with a drive to challenge the status quo. Eager to learn; puts the team first; resilient with a passion for achieving mission objectives. Accustomed to using failure as a learning tool and applying a high sense of urgency
  • Hands-on mentality and heavy collaboration with production teams to secure continuous production flow
