Job Description
The Enviva team is driven by our shared vision for a renewable energy future. We are a fast-growing, purpose-driven, global energy company specializing in delivering sustainable wood bioenergy solutions. We are the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets, which provide a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuels.
This position will be based out of our Epes, AL plant, and heavily focused within our plants in Lucedale, MS, Amory, MS, and Cottondale, FL.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage and develop regional stumpage harvesting program, including sales to external markets
- Identify and purchase tracts of standing timber to meet company harvesting objectives
- Identify and develop new dedicated logging/hauling capacity
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with loggers harvesting Enviva stumpage tracts
- Uphold and maintain positive representation of Enviva’s values with suppliers and within the local industry and community
- Maintain intimate knowledge of stumpage logger operating capacity, and work in conjunction to maximize harvest production while balancing costs/weather/tract/market factors
- Ensure logger harvest/delivery plans consistently satisfy supply demands defined by Regional Fiber Supply Manager
- Manage and monitor product merchandising & marketing on stumpage tracts to meet/exceed tract purchase goals.
- Ensure stumpage loggers provide current and accurate contractual, insurance, and stumpage tract harvest documentation/requirements to administrative staff
- Provide required tract purchase requisition/setup information to administrative staff to ensure timely stumpage and harvesting payment
- Perform required forestry/sustainability related field audits
- Perform stumpage tract related field work (mark boundary lines, collect and monitor delivery tickets and log books, ensure adequate logging best practices during harvest, address access road and miscellaneous landowner concerns, timber tract cruising, etc)
Qualifications
- 5+ year experience buying / selling timber and managing logging crews in the forest products industry
- An associates / bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred, with a focus in forestry and / or business administration
- Proficiency in solid mathematical skills
- Working knowledge of basic forestry, logging best practices, and chipping operations
- Ability to work independently and safely in remote outdoor environments and around heavy equipment
- Willingness to travel, with occasional overnight stays required
- A valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills to support developing and maintaining supplier relationships
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel
