Internship Program Summary:

The 2025 Summer Internship Program is open to current undergraduate and graduate students pursuing majors in related fields.

The goal of the Program is to provide students with hands-on, industry experience while offering the opportunity to make valuable contributions at Team Electra.

In this you will:

  • Assist with the buildout, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing lines
  • Assist with prototyping efforts to “fast-fail” design concepts
  • Assist with the design and assembly of mechanical fixtures for manufacturing, testing, and machining
  • Assist with the mechanical drafting and GD&T of Electra components and assemblies.
  • Assist with technical documentation of build processes, testing procedures, test results, and lessons-learned

Qualifications:

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical engineering or related degree
  • 3D modeling software experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment (wrenches, saws, drills, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience operating machine tools (lathe, mill, laser cutter, welder, etc.)
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), manufacturing, and common material properties
  • Knowledge of electrochemical cell components and fundamentals
  • Experience developing and executing experiments

Compensation:

  • The pay rate for this position is $29.00 per hour for undergraduate students and $32.00 per hour for graduate students.
  • Interns are responsible for finding and paying for their housing solutions for the summer. Electra will provide suggestions for housing and will assist with connecting you with other interns after an accepted offer.
