The Role

We are looking for a diligent and highly motivated individual to join the growing Cypress tax department. This position (Senior Indirect Tax Accountant) will be primarily focusing on meeting the Company’s Indirect tax compliance and reporting needs. The ideal candidate is a team player who has experience and a solid understanding of common indirect tax rules and regulations for personal property tax, real property tax and PILOT and Abatement program. An individual who is knowledgeable in accounting principles and is willing to dive in and take the lead on projects assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead real property tax, personal property tax, PILOT and Abatement compliance, appeals and budgeting processes
  • Assist with maintaining the indirect tax matrix and prepare indirect tax memo (sales and use tax, personal property tax and real property tax)
  • Assist with other indirect tax compliance and research
  • Aid with continual improvement of sales/use tax compliance software and other process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of the Company’s federal, state and local income tax returns, including reviewing the workpapers prepared by the external service providers, as needed.
  • Assist in the resolution of federal, state and local tax notices and audits
  • Identify process improvements for various tax processes, implement changes for best practices
  • Perform other duties as requested by the management

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting or Tax (or related major)
  • 1-2 years of indirect tax experience
  • Experience working in real or business personal property tax a plus
  • Experience working in Avalara and/or NetSuite a plus
  • Must be detail oriented, resourceful and organized
  • Ability to multi-task and work within tight time frames and deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal abilities and a team player willing to ask questions-. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible.
  • Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimum supervision

We are seeking qualified candidates available to start immediately.

Locations: Preference to be based in a CCR Office location. We have offices based in Santa Monica, CA, San Francisco, CA, Durham, NC, Asheville, NC, Washington DC. Also open to remote DOE.
