Product Quality (PQE) and Failure Analysis Engineering (FAE) Team Lead

What You Will Be Doing

ChargePoint is looking for a Failure Analysis Engineering Technician (FAE Tech) with a strong background and hands-on failure analysis lab experiences in electronics and PCBA including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, electrical components, and modules. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Product Quality Engineering and Failure Analysis Engineering team on customer returns, new product introduction, and the continual improvement of our cutting-edge electric vehicle charging products. You will be jointly own with Failure Analysis Engineers (FAE) the failure analysis process from concept through field operation, ensuring exceptional quality at every stage. To be successful at ChargePoint this person must be highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working in a loosely structured and fast-paced environment.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

• As a Failure Analysis Engineering Technician, your responsibilities will focus on operating various equipment, tools and instruments to perform root cause analysis:
• Support FAE and Team leader to lead system- and component-level failure analysis with cross-functional team supporting customer field returns, new product introductions, and factory yield excursions
• Performs laboratory hands-on electrical and physical failure analysis for fault isolation on electronic products : electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, PCBA, and cable harness
• Performs functional electrical testing, circuit analysis, fault isolation, probing, and failure duplication
• Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to identify the root cause for issues related to field, manufacturing, supplier quality, and product design
• Jointly with FAE to create and manage KPIs, databases, and corrective/preventative actions for continuous improvement of ChargePoint products
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of experience in electronics / high voltage laboratory environment with a record of driving failure analysis from system- to component-level
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and component data sheets
• Familiarity with electrical systems and components (PCBA, MOSFETs, IGBTs, Capacitors, Relays, Cable Harness, etc.) including their failure modes/mechanisms
• Hands-on experience with electrical tools and methods such as Digital Multi-meter (DMM), Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Electronic Loads, etc.
• Familiarity or quick learner to be familiar with physical failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy and 2D and 3D X-ray
• Experience applying problem solving tools including Root Cause Analysis
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter and creates solutions with flexibility adjusting to changing priorities.
• Experience in electronics industry such as automotive, consumer electronics, solar, electric vehicle, or battery
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time
