Applications Engineer-Automotive Harness
Job Overview:
We are seeking a driven, energetic individual to join CelLink as an Applications Engineer. The Applications Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and execution of flex circuit products. This is a multi-faceted role with full product responsibility from conception to production release. The Applications Engineer will directly interface with OEM and Tier customers to design, build, test, and release flex circuit products.
Automotive Harness Specialty
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct creation of 3D models and 2D drawings of wire harnesses, high speed data circuits, and specialty circuits using CAD best practices and processes.
- Terminal and connector selection based on electrical, mechanical, and thermal requirements of applications.
- Define requirements of flex circuit product based on internal, customer, and regulatory system-level requirements.
- Build prototype circuits (hands on) and support launch activities at plant.
- Lead design reviews and DFM analysis.
- DVP&R creation and execution to validate products along with DFMEAs and other pertinent APQP documentation.
- Develop processes, designs, and material combinations to enhance performance of CelLink's flexible circuits under various usage cases and applications.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - 3-5+ years of experience in automotive harness design in harness applications (such as fascia, door, energy backbones, IP, headliner, headlights, or similar), connectors, terminals, high voltage components, or ECUs/control module preferred.
- Understand requirements and performance of wire harnesses and high-speed data circuits.
- Understand current commodity EDS architecture and familiar with next gen zonal architecture.
- Experience with harness routing and fixation design methodology.
- Knowledge and direct experience with typical validation tests for wiring harnesses (i.e. USCAR-2, 12, 17, 21, 37, 38, SAEJ1113, MIL STD 461F, IEC610000).
- Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN Bus, SPI, isoSPI, CAN FD, Ethernet, flexray, USB, etc.
- Working knowledge of bench equipment (oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, function generator, differential probe, multimeter, power supply, etc.).
- Experience in SolidWorks, CATIA V5, or AutoCAD tool sets. Experience with big file size, configuration management, and 3D routing.
- Bachelor's Degree in materials science, EE, ME, physics or equivalent.
- Working experience with Quality & Reliability disciplines and tools (FMEA, 8D, APQP).
- GD&T knowledge, understanding of CC/SC drawing callouts and their effects on manufacturing process.
- Adept in data processing, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), with ability to discuss technical materials with wide range of audiences.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment –
Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines.
PPE-
May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures.
The base pay is just one part of CelLink's total compensation package and is determined within a range. The pay range is designed to support your career progression as you learn, grow, and develop within your role. Your base pay range will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
