Job Description

Material Planning Manager

The Materials Planning Manager is responsible for driving materials planning strategies and all supply chain activities, including purchasing, planning, logistics, inventory management, materials management, sales order management and order fulfillment. It also ensures that inventory strategies and buy plans are agreed upon, timely, and accurate, limiting changes and avoiding material stockouts.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead material planning processes, ensuring alignment with overall supply chain goals
  • Lead and execute purchasing activities associated with New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts
  • Monitor and manage key operational and Supply Chain metrics, including MRP use, PO meeting manufacturing need-by date, work order/kitting execution, and master schedule attainment
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to define project timelines, supply chain objectives, and execution strategies
  • Complete line-item source awards, new supplier development, and item-master upload
  • Oversee the proactive management of exceptions, such as material delays or changes, and facilitate communication to resolve issues
  • Continuously review and adjust safety stock levels based on changes in demand patterns, lead times, and supplier performance
  • Process Setup and Improvement: Develop and implement efficient purchasing and order fulfillment processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on inventory levels and supply chain activities to the senior operations manager
  • Coordinate with Finance on costing and inventory transactions
  • Actively participate in month-end and quarter-end activities, responsible for physical inventory counts, cycle counting process, E&O, and consigned inventory management
  • Support quarterly and annual internal and external audits
  • Own and lead the Sales Order and RMA processes, create and provide appropriate metrics and reporting to internal teams
  • Drive procurement activities for both direct and indirect materials
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to materials planning
  • Hybrid – in office minimum of 3 days per week
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4-6 years prior experience in Materials, Planning, or Inventory Management
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP and NetSuite ERP systems
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • APICS CPIM, CSCP certification is preferred
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred
  • NetSuite, Coupa, and Arena experience a plus
  • Graduate Degree in related field
