Engineering designs our next-generation hydrogen electric engines. Working across Hydrogen, Propulsion and Integration divisions, they solve technical problems and help decarbonize aviation by finding solutions for electric propulsion, hydrogen storage, fuel cell technology, power distribution, thermal management and more.
Requirements
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineer to join our aerospace software testing team, focusing on electric power train controls controller applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, with specific expertise in HIL simulation and testing for fuel-cell controllers, and a thorough understanding of aerospace software standards including DO-178C, DO-331, and DO-330.
Responsibilities:
- Development of HIL Simulation Systems: Design and implement HIL simulation systems for the testing and validation of fuel cell controller software.
- Software Testing: Execute comprehensive software testing protocols on aerospace fuel cell controllers, ensuring reliability and adherence to industry standards.
- System Integration: Collaborate with software and hardware teams to integrate fuel cell controller software into broader system architectures.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data to identify software anomalies and performance issues. Provide actionable insights for software improvement.
- Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test suites to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including test plans, test reports, and system specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all software testing activities comply with organizational quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, and project managers, to ensure cohesive project progression
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in HIL technologies to continuously improve testing practices and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in HIL systems, particularly in aerospace or automotive industries.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with aerospace software standards and protocols.
- Experience in fuel cell technology and controller software is highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both team environments and independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with real-time simulation hardware and software
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in embedded systems and firmware development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent level of spoken and written English (additional languages a plus).
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team
- Able to travel internationally on occasion
Benefits
The wage scale or salary range for this position is between $110,000 - $150,000. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:

👩🏽⚕️ Health Insurance: Employer covers up to 80% of the employee's monthly premiums on medical, dental, and vision.
🧬 Life Insurance: Basic Life/AD&D of up to $50,000 and the option to add on Supplemental Coverage.
💫 Short-Term Disability: Up to 60% of your earnings for up to a period of 24 weeks.
🤒 Long-Term Disability: If your disability extends beyond 180 days, LTD Coverage for up to 60% of your earnings.
🏖️ Paid Time Off: Eligible employees may accrue up to 120 hours per year (15 days) and may borrow up to 40 hours (5 days).
🩺 Sick Time: Eligible employees may accrue up to 40 hours, per year (5 days)
🏖️ Paid Holidays: 12 observed holidays, per calendar year.
🛩️ The Fly Club: up to $2,000 of reimbursement towards flying lessons to all full-time staff
