Job Description

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary As part of the Autonomy Systems Integration team, you will be fundamental in the successful development and deployment of Rivian’s suite of ADAS/Autonomy features. You will be part of the Palo Alto based Data Collection Integration team which works cross functionally with Rivian SW development teams based locally to support the development and deployment of a fleet of Data Collection Vehicles. This role is expected to be onsite. Responsibilities Manage supplier relationships for build activities. Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to support electrical architecture development. Conduct electrical analysis, including power budget studies, component studies, connection types, cost analysis, and first article harnessing. Support mechanical build activities, focusing on fast prototyping and physical integration. Proficiency in CAD is a bonus. Oversee procurement processes, including building MPL (Material Parts List), BOM (Bill of Materials), and Draw POS (Purchase Orders), along with effective inventory tracking and management. Create, sign, send, and record various technical diagrams. Lead integration efforts, focusing on electrical and mechanical architecture, non-intrusive solutions, and ease of manufacturing. Work with the vehicle as a complete system, not just focusing on ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems). Standardize prototype items for mass production, documenting procedures, designing with serviceability and installation in mind, ensuring repeatability, and supporting initial build activities. Hold oneself accountable for quality control, setting time blankets for QC, recording failure rates, and providing rework or improvement plans. Conduct diagnostics, including debugging, root cause analysis, and repair planning on a fleet-wide basis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus. A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working with automated driving technologies with a focus in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design and integration. Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power budget analysis, component selection, and cost analysis. Experience with procurement processes, inventory management, and building MPL, BOM, and Draw POs. Demonstrated experience in managing supplier relationships and working with vendors. Proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with teams internal and external to the Autonomy Team. Experience in fast prototyping, mechanical integration, and understanding of vehicle systems beyond ADAS. Excellent organizational and documentation skills, including creating and managing technical diagrams. Ability to lead quality control efforts, set QC standards, and implement improvement plans. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to stay current with vehicle architecture and industry developments. Attention to detail and accountability, particularly in quality control. Experience in mass production, including standardizing prototype items, documenting procedures, and designing for serviceability and ease of installation. Strong problem-solving skills, including diagnostics, debugging, root cause analysis, and repair planning. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques for fleet-wide debugging and repair planning. Fast learner with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and integrate non-intrusive solutions into vehicle architecture. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $129,300.00 - $161,600.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums. Equal Opportunity Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
