Job Description
About Us Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders with a clear vision for automotive’s next chapter. From operating systems to zonal controllers to cloud and connectivity solutions, we’re addressing the challenges of electric vehicles through technology that will set the standards for software-defined vehicles around the world. The road to the future is uncharted. By combining our expertise across connectivity, AI, security and more, we’ll map a new way forward. Working together, we’ll create a future that’s more connected, more intelligent, more sustainable for everyone. Role Summary The Core Data team at R | V Tech is building and scaling a modern, reliable data platform that empowers teams across the company to make better, faster decisions. Weʼre looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer who will be a key owner of our dbt ecosystem on Databricks—someone who can both ship high-quality analytics models and steward the tooling, standards, and operations that make those models dependable at scale. In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders and data peers to translate ambiguous questions into trustworthy, well-modeled datasets. Beyond building pipelines, you will also maintain and evolve our custom implementation of dbt Core— improving developer experience, standardizing patterns, and ensuring performant, incident- free operations across multiple domain teams. If youʼre excited by the blend of hands-on modeling, platform craftsmanship, and cross- functional collaboration—and you care deeply about quality, maintainability, and documentation—weʼd love to meet you Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain analytics pipelines in dbt that transform raw data into actionable, trusted datasets. Develop and optimize advanced SQL (and Python where appropriate) models for transformed data on Databricks. Own and operate our custom dbt Core implementation ensuring reliable, incident-free operations across domain teams. Architect clear, scalable data models and schemas that enable self-service analytics and enforce consistency and accuracy. Champion data quality with testing, validation, observability, and SLA/SLO monitoring of jobs and datasets. Partner with platform engineers to integrate new tools and mature patterns across ingestion, governance, and analytics. Improve performance and cost-efficiency on Databricks (e.g., Delta optimizations, query tuning, job/clusters configuration). Document models, decisions, and standards; mentor peers and enable broader analytics excellence. Qualifications Bachelorʼs or Masterʼs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Over 5 years of proven experience as an Analytics engineer. Must have skills Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 3+ years hands-on with dbt Core and advanced SQL. Experience with modern cloud data platforms: Databricks required (or strong experience with an equivalent like Snowflake or BigQuery, with willingness to deepen Databricks expertise). Proficiency with Git-based development workflows and code reviews. Nice to have skills CI/CD for data (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and automated testing for dbt projects.
