Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Engineer with deep expertise in developing configuration-driven applications within an event-driven, cloud-first architecture. You will lead technical efforts to design, build, and scale our next-generation fleet management toolset, focused on electric vehicles (EVs). This toolset will empower users to efficiently manage large fleets, optimize vehicle performance, and leverage real-time data to make informed decisions. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, architects, data scientists, and product managers, to define and implement solutions that meet our customers' needs. Your leadership in designing scalable, secure, and highly performant applications will be key to our success. This role is located at our Palo Alto, CA office and reports directly into the Sr. Manager, Fleet Applications. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of a multi-tenancy configuration-driven applications for a fleet management SAAS toolset that leverages cloud-first, event-driven architecture. Architect scalable and resilient microservices-based solutions using cloud-native technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) to manage fleet operations, data processing, and real-time event handling. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define technical requirements and align them with the overall system architecture and product roadmap. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, innovative engineering culture. Ensure the system is secure, reliable, and optimized for performance, addressing scalability and data integrity challenges in large, distributed environments. Work closely with DevOps to define CI/CD pipelines and ensure best practices for automated testing, monitoring, and deployments. Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies to keep Rivian’s toolset at the cutting edge of the industry. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $237,200.00 - $296,500.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
