Role Summary As a Sr. Software Engineer within the Factory Software team, you will develop the software, services, and applications to support ultra high-speed manufacturing. To develop the manufacturing process, you will identify cutting edge technologies in use, such as machine vision, distributed message busses, virtualization etc., and develop the application of those technologies. Software design responsibilities will include developing robust software, reliable systems, and maintainable software. To help Rivian produce the most Factories in record time, you will collaborate with many cross-functional Rivian teams to build a cohesive environment. When working with other teams to develop our factories, you will assist design reviews, and commissioning. You will establish deployment plans and test plan execution at Rivian facilities during new factory builds. Throughout the process, you will follow up with internal teams to keep track of high-level project goals and ensure project success by highlighting challenges early and working collaboratively to mitigate gaps. This opening can be located at one of our facilities in Normal, IL, Palo Alto, California, or Irvine, CA and reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering. Responsibilities 5+ years of software development experience in a test-driven environment Experience with one of the following languages: C, C++, Go (preferred), Rust Enforce application of and guide teams through proper deployment of Rivian software. Participate in development of software standards and specifications by feeding back lessons-learned and gaps from each project to ensure that future projects will run smoother. Review and approve MR or PR proactively with development teams. Qualifications BS/MS Software Engineering (or equivalent) or Applicable work experience Experience Designing software for streaming mechanisms: Kakfa, RabitMQ, JetStream, etc. Familiarity with source control systems (e.g. Git, Bitbucket, etc.) and tools such as JAMA and JIRA. Experience with automated testing and continuous integration frameworks Excellent understanding of caching, authentication, authorization, and privacy considerations Comfortable with SDLC best practices and using version-controlled software Experience with designing and developing high-performance software. Good understanding of Linux, Android, or Real-time operating systems. Experience with systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis Travel Requirements of Position: ~30% or as needed by the team Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of K8s, Git, Bazel, Jenkins, GitLab,, Vault, or automotive systems a big plus API (e.g. gRPC, HTTP) and database experience. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $146,900- $183,600 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Irvine, California Based Applicants: $135,100 - $168,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
