From excitement to sustainability, utility to comfort, we’re working to deliver joyful mobility experiences without the pain points of today. As we develop autonomy and navigation for our R1 and future vehicle lines, we need engineers to help develop new tools and techniques for cutting edge systems. This role will be focused on building engines and services that power a variety of features throughout the vehicle. The opening will be located at our Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering. Responsibilities Process geodata from various sources, cleaning and merging it for vehicle consumption. Write and optimize Postgres SQL queries with PostGIS extension. Collaborate with the open-source communities (e.g. OpenStreetMap, MapLibre, Overture Maps). Work with mapping technologies to visualize and analyze spatial data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs. Manage large data sets and ensure data integrity and accuracy. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. 5+ years total Software Engineering experience 3+ years of hands-on experience with PG SQL leveraging PostGIS functionality In-depth knowledge and experience with GIS systems and tools. Experience with mapping tools and technologies such as QGIS and MapLibre. Proficient with Linux and its tools such as Git, Bash, JQ, Curl, Grep. Proficient with Rust or Python. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and service architecture. Software Development life cycle experience, from requirements gathering through to implementation and maintenance. Pay Disclosure Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $146,900 – $183,600 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
