Role Summary This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the physical design of Rivian’s electric vehicle systems! We’re looking for a highly motivated, multi-disciplined mechanical design & release engineer to help us design and develop Exterior components on current and future Rivian Models. Responsibilities Design, Develop, and release Exterior Components including, but not limited to Fascia’s, FEM, Claddings, Pillar Trims, badges etc. Apply your expert knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, compression molding, 2-shot molding, overmolding etc. Work with the studio team to provide feedback and generate high quality A-surfaces that meet all DFM requirements while keeping with the theme of the vehicle Use first principle driven design direction in order to develop exterior components that is best for the product overall Create different CAD concepts for issues, detailed 2D sections and concept 3D CAD during initial development Work with cross functional teams to develop high quality design that meets requirements of the system as a whole Mentor less experienced Design & Release Engineers Manage mass/cost/time etc. and proactively communicate issues to all other stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred) 6 yrs. of exterior component design and release experience Catia v5 / v6 operative skills, to be able to demonstrate high technical competence. 4+ years of experience in Automotive exteriors mechanisms from concept to production Proven supplier management skills based on working with a mix of build-to-print and full-service suppliers.
