Marketing and advertising is a fundamental department within the Brand & Marketing team - responsible for all paid media placements (predominantly ATL / TTL, not performance marketing) for OVO, plus creative & media agency management. Based in our London office, the Head of Advertising (Maternity cover) will report into the Brand & Marketing Director, joining the BAM Leadership team, and working closely with key Brand HODs in Strategy, Comms Planning and Sponsorship as well as cross-functional teams in Insight, Commercial and Propositions. You will also manage a team of 3 high-performing marketers.

This role in a nutshell:

This role will be responsible for leading paid brand advertising campaigns for OVO, driving stand out in category and generating valuable leads to the business.

Your key outcomes will be:

This is an exciting, fast-paced and multi-faceted role which requires someone to push advertising effectiveness forward internally through strategic creative and media management. You’ll be an influential communicator, inspiring cross-functional stakeholders, motivating agency partners and guiding your lean team to success. If you’re proactive, love collaboration and have a passion for building effective brand campaigns, this is the role for you.

This role will cover:

  • Leading through the line brand advertising campaigns for OVO, both short and long term strategic campaign focus.
  • Extensive creative management and ownership, managing our agency Saatchi & Saatchi, leading on all advertising creative & messaging across channels. Also includes ownership of production processes which your team will lead.
  • Strategic media planning and execution, working closely with our agency Goodstuff, plus media lead in the team, taking ownership across detailed channel plans and optimisations.
  • Own the agency briefing, production, execution and measurement process overall with both creative and media agencies.
  • Working cross functionally with internal teams to synthesise business, customer & brand priorities, ensuring the advertising focus is strategically aligned with this.
  • Working closely with internal insights and commercial teams, plus our agencies to drive advertising effectiveness and robust measurement.
  • Key contact within the business for our creative and media agencies, driving high levels of productivity, excellence in execution and collaboration for the brand.
  • Selling advertising led brand building strategies into multiple cross-departments and key stakeholders in the business, gaining by in and collaboration.
  • Lead a high-performing team of 3 who are responsible for the development of 360 brand advertising campaigns and integrated marketing planning across the business.
  • Responsible for managing a multimillion pound budget, including tracking, re-forecasting and annual budget submissions.
  • Responsible for protecting our brand equity and reputation, alongside our Head of Brand, ensuring the brand is consistently and accurately executed across a number of touchpoints outside of brand advertising (such as performance marketing assets where we sign off the use of brand).

You’ll be a successful Head of Advertising here at OVO if you…

  • You’ll have substantial brand, marketing and advertising (10+ years either in agencies or embedded within an organisation) and be able to prove the value of the work you’ve been involved in.
  • You’ll be very adept at working across different paid channels, across the marketing funnel and managing multiple external agencies.
  • Strategic and brand-led in everything you do.
  • Creatively charged, with confident creative and strategic judgement and expert knowledge of production processes.
  • Extensive media knowledge with the ability to lead our agency and team to efficient and effective multi-channel planning on behalf of the business.
  • A clear and analytical thinker with the ability to maximise effectiveness and translate insights into growth opportunities.
  • Experience driving innovation and fresh thinking within a business via advertising campaigns.
  • A charismatic leader who can inspire others in unchartered territories with proven experience of effectively managing multiple stakeholders.
  • An effective and motivational collaborator who inspires our agencies to deliver their best work and feel part of the team.
  • The ability to clearly synthesise and articulate agency feedback.
  • Resilient and pragmatic - change is a constant and the ability to pivot/adapt is a must.
  • Ability to juggle multiple work streams and manage priorities.
  • You’ll be someone who brings energy and positivity to the team and who is inspired by the zero carbon journey that OVO is on with its customers.

We’ll pay you between £90,000 and £110,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
