Job Description

The Factory Material Flow Engineer will develop the flow inside of the factories ground (inside and outside). Therefore, the role needs to work closely with interface partners from layout, process material flow, warehousing, logistics, quality, rework, construction, and offices. This function has the governance of all flows beside the process material flow. Therefore, the responsibility is to design, optimize and balance the flows of components, semi-finished and finished goods, and personnel with the target to create a smooth flow of production lines under the lean manufacturing principles. Collaboration with highly technical cross-functional teams is needed to ensure the factory throughput, efficient support functions and that the factory utilizes the available space most efficient.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, optimize and balance simple flow solutions of finished goods, parts and people on the factory grounds by considering lean manufacturing principles and utilizing new technologies and specialized equipment
  • In new factory projects the role has the governance to ensure given flows affecting arrangement of buildings, equipment, operations, and support functions
  • Planning, ordering (RFQ runs), and handing over all necessary equipment to ensure the solution material flow (e.g. AMR/AGV, tugger trains, forklifts, supermarkets, support areas, etc.)
  • Optimize manufacturing layouts incorporating people and material flow within the given project
  • Identify bottlenecks within the solution and define measures to solve them with the technical cross-functional team and drive the process to ensure implementation of measures
  • Support production ramp-up of the solution in Northvolt Systems factories (in and outside Europe) and handover to operations and sustaining industrial/process engineers
  • Participation in functional teams and ramp-up activities, during Manufacturing Solutions Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), Final Acceptance (FA), training operators/ technicians and troubleshooting of issues during initial production runs at line level and ensures procedures consistency
  • Creating of procedures and standards of material flow solutions
  • Development and implementation of Karakuri systems and material handling systems to ensure smooth and efficient flow of raw materials, semifinished goods and finished products throughout the manufacturing process
  • Other tasks assigned by a manager
