What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is seeking to hire a Project Developer to join our New England Business Development team. You will be responsible for generating a development pipeline and lead the development of a range of distributed solar and energy storage projects across New England. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project and/or land development, with 3 years of solar and energy storage or comparable industry experience.
We are accepting candidates across New York, where you can be hybrid out of our New York City office, or fully remote. You will report to the VP, Business Development.
What you’ll do:
Responsible for all phases of solar project development, from origination to start of construction. Key responsibilities include:
- Originate and develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, simultaneously managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and other development activities.
- Negotiate complex contracts with private, commercial and municipal counterparties.
- Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies.
- Development of long-term relationships with property owners, energy users and other project stakeholders.
- Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
- Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups and project abutters.
- Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities.
- Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
- Development of sales presentations, proposals and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
- Up to 60% travel is required; some evening and weekend work required.
What you’ll bring:
- Three or more years of solar and storage or comparable industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record in project development and stakeholder management.
- Strong skills in site origination and pipeline development across industries, including commercial real estate, telecom, or renewable energy.
- Effective team leader and collaborator.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

Compensation
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $105,000 - $135,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
