ABOUT THE ROLE & OPPORTUNITY

The Global Development Team is responsible for raising and growing funding for the organization, both from a global perspective, as well as supporting local chapters in their program-specific fundraising. As a global organization with dispersed fundraising responsibilities, relationships, and priorities, it is essential that we leverage systems and processes to coordinate our activities, provide timely reporting, and therefore benefit from our strength as a global network.

The Development Coordinator is responsible for streamling fundraising operations by staying on top of donor communications, maintaining the donor database and CRM, assisting with coordination of fundraising proposals between country heads and global, and supporting research and writing for grant proposals. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit development, exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, and has a keen sense of improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Proposal Management and Product Support

  • Ensure proper corporate record keeping for proposals and grants within NEX online filing system
  • Help maintain a streamlined system for staying on top of ongoing reporting deadlines and information sharing for existing grants
  • Assist with impact reporting, including working with staff to compile information, clean and validate data, and ensure ongoing integrity of data through regular quality checks
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising and grant applications, as needed, with a focus on acting as an expert and clearinghouse for NEX’s standard information and templates
  • Work with Development team to continually improve our proposal-writing, reporting, and filing systems and processes to streamline tasks, enhance cross-chapter collaboration, and support our finance, legal and operations activities as they relate to fundraising
  • Provide thematic vertical support (i.e Women in Climate, New Energy Skills) to Development team with research, sourcing impact data and stories from the chapters
  • Assist with quarterly funder newsletter and additional emails sent to funders via MailChimp
  • Assist with donor event logistics such as virtual funder calls, donor dinners, and public events like funder panels
  • Participate in global fundraising retreat and team building activities
  • Support with participation in global climate events such as New York Climate Week, GITEX Impact, London Climate Week or similar if budget permits

Responsible for Data Input and Upkeep of the CRM (i.e Zendesk)

  • Assist fundraising staff (in local chapters and at the global platform level) to input their relevant fundraising updates
  • Assist fundraising staff in leveraging the CRM to identify areas for collaboration and relationship building
  • Ensure CRM is being used correctly and conduct periodic audits and data cleaning as needed
  • Troubleshoot basic CRM questions from staff, act as main point of contact for more advanced questions to be elevated to Abundance team staff, IT or CRM representatives
  • Produce regular monthly fundraising reports from CRM data, as well as ad hoc reports as needed
  • Provide training and onboarding to new staff on how to use the CRM and proposal processes
  • Work with Development team staff to continuously improve the user experience and architecture for the CRM

Requirements

Experience:

  • 2+ years of working with a CRM as your primary responsibility, preferably Zendesk Sell or Salesforce
  • Experience working with dispersed teams to coordinate data and record-keeping
  • Experience producing sales or fundraising reports, including pipeline updates and progress to goal
  • Experience in providing training for systems and process onboarding and adherence
  • Preferred: experience with grant-writing and non-profit fundraising

Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills as it relates to document management / file organization
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets)
  • Strong communication skills, including cross-cultural communication and listening as well as responsiveness to requests and online communication
  • Proactive self-starter, ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with online communication tools eg Slack, Asana
  • Scheduling flexibility in order to interface virtually with team members across time zones
  • Eagerness to grow with the position as the team’s needs evolve

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

This is a full-time remote position. Relocation assistance is not available for this role and compensation is competitive for the market the candidate is based in. Applicable benefits such as medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays and insurance will depend on the location of the selected candidate.
