Job Description

Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility

At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.

We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.

Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.

As a Geartrain System Analysis Engineer at Lucid Motors, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and simulation of geartrain systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You will work closely with our engineering team to design and refine geartrain systems for various electric drive units.

The role:

  • Geartrain Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of geartrain systems to assess their efficiency, NVH, durability, and overall performance.
  • Simulation: Utilize advanced simulation software (Romax or similar) to model geartrain systems and predict behavior under different operating conditions. Perform fatigue analysis for planetary carriers, shaft and planet pins using appropriate tools.
  • Design Evaluation: Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate geartrain design concepts and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Failure Analysis: Investigate geartrain system failures and implement corrective measures to enhance reliability and safety.
  • Material Selection: Recommend appropriate materials for geartrain components to meet performance and durability requirements.
  • Testing and Validation: Plan and execute physical tests and experiments to validate the performance of geartrain systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for optimizing geartrain systems and suggest design modifications for improved performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of analysis results, simulations, and design changes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure seamless integration of geartrain systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that geartrain systems meet industry standards and safety regulations.

    Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using geartrain analysis software and simulation tools (e.g., Romax, ANSYS)
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and CAD software.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision in analysis and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of material science and tribology as it relates to geartrain components.

    Preferred:

  • Proven prior experience of 2 years or more in geartrain system analysis, design, and simulation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., AGMA, ISO)

    Education:

  • Bachelors degree plus five years of related experience or MS plus 3 years related experience in engineering discipline.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)
