We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our team and lead the development of interiors for our groundbreaking vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive interiors, possessing the expertise to oversee the entire product lifecycle from design conception to physical realization. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, ensuring quality, and delivering exceptional interior designs that exceed industry standards.

Role:

  • Design and development of soft trim interiors for automotive applications, adhering to project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Create and manage Design Verification Plans (DVP) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to ensure product robustness and reliability.
  • Guide the product through the entire development process, from initial concept to final production, including prototyping, testing, and validation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to achieve project objectives.
  • Review quotes and proposals from suppliers, negotiate pricing, and select vendors based on technical capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.
  • Utilize CAD software to develop detailed designs, models, and drawings for soft trim components, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the build phase, addressing any design issues or manufacturing challenges that may arise.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, training, and support to foster their professional development.
  • Take ownership and accountability for all aspects of the assigned projects, demonstrating leadership and initiative to drive successful outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.2+years of related work experience.
  • Experience in automotive interiors design and development, with a focus on soft trim components.
  • Proven track record of managing DVP and DFMEA processes for automotive projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of the product development lifecycle, from concept to production, within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5 preferred) for 3D modeling and design visualization.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for automotive interiors (e.g., FMVSS, ISO).
  • Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturers is a plus.

Additional Senior Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic input and contribute to the development of long-term product roadmaps and technology strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost optimization, and innovation within the engineering department.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in automotive interiors, staying abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field.
  • Represent the company in technical discussions, industry conferences, and customer meetings to showcase our capabilities and expertise.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the engineering team, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development initiatives.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$110,600—$165,800 USD
