Since launching in 2019, Kaluza’s technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers. From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies. Kaluza is currently in an exciting growth phase, undergoing the next phase of our international expansion in Melbourne to further reinforce our capabilities as a globally distributed energy platform. This means that you would be one of the earliest Kaluza employees on the ground in Australia, working directly with our clients in the region. We're in the early days of building our team and so in-office presence to us is important - working really closely with our clients to forge a strong working relationship. Our team currently works from our office in Melbourne CBD (Spencer St) 2-3 days per week. Our goal is to build a self-sufficient and empowered team here on the ground in Australia. We’re well on our way, but until we get there we still have some reliances on our UK team. Being comfortable working flexibly for a portion of your working week to cover time zones is required. |
Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? We’re very excited about Kaluza's growing presence in the Australian market. One of the key pillars for the expansion in Australia is rolling out and localising our Kaluza Flex solution. You will have the opportunity to work with Kaluza Flex product and delivery teams to support bringing innovative DER (distributed energy resource) products to market including electric vehicle (EV) smart charging, residential solar and storage optimisation and smart HVAC. Following Kaluza’s first phase of work in Australia, which has focused on building and launching an EV smart charging product, you will get the opportunity to work with Kaluza’s clients and Product teams to drive expansion into other DERs; developing solutions with deep local market integrations. |
You’ll be working on Kaluza’s Flexibility platform. Designed to be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers, Flex will aid us in creating the distributed, consumer-centric, dynamic energy system of the future. Bridging the gap between distributed renewable generation and smart devices, it helps consumers shift their energy consumption to times when there's more renewable energy. This not only saves them money, but enables society as a whole to meet the challenge of decarbonising transport and residential heating/cooling. We’re also supporting this vital shift by building the innovative technology behind unique, market-leading customer propositions like Vehicle to Grid, Charge Anytime Energy Plan with our energy retailer partners. |
What will I be doing? You will be the ‘on the ground’ Kaluza Flex product lead to drive forward the DER design, development and launch activities in Australia. Key responsibilities for the role include: Being the key ‘bridge’ back to core product leads in the UK to design solutions that meet our local client needs and align with Kaluza’s product direction Being the ‘in the room’ presence to lead conversations around product direction and decision making with our clients and prospects Being a Kaluza on the ground expert advisor to the key client stakeholders - shaping and influencing their roadmaps and planned propositions Driving the creation of your team’s Objectives and Key Results and provide the product leadership necessary to help your team achieve amazing outcomes Gaining a deep, technical understanding of the energy trading and flexibility domain, in particular with relation to the local market Working with our amazing software engineers, data scientists, designers and to create solutions that drive value for clients, are commercially viable for the business, and feasible for your product team to deliver Working with your team to build and measure the right metrics for product success and nurture a culture of learning from data |
Is this the job for me? Ideally you’ll have/be Experience in the residential DER and flexibility space (EVs, batteries, solar, home energy management) 4+ years experience working with energy retailers in client-facing product, solutions or B2B product marketing roles In-depth knowledge of and curiosity to understand the nuances of the Australian energy market and how that differs from other energy markets Ability to clearly communicate complex problems and articulate client needs to technical teams and vice-versa to clients Proactive in driving discussions to reach alignment with the client / searching resolutions to any blockers for delivery and scoping activities Experience/comfortable working across Australia / UK time zones when needed A team player who embraces collaboration and knowledge sharing within your team and across different teams - but recognize that the “buck stops with you” on all team decisions |
