ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will:

•Be part of the battery energy storage systems(BESS) enclosure fire and explosion safety team.


•Will work closely with the product development team, program managers, product managers, requisition team, and other stakeholders.


•Perform CFD modeling and analyses for fire behavior of energy storage systems to support large-scale fire tests.


•Keep updated with emerging fire suppression technologies for the BESS industry, compare and analyze the technologies to deploy the optimal one for fluence products


•Well-versed with the NFPA, UL, and IS standards related to fire suppression testing.


•Collect, analyze, and document in-house experimental data to draw valuable inferences .

•Influence the cooling and fire suppression system design and design to meet various published technical standards and codes.


•Participate in safety system design, including fire safety, explosion prevention, explosion protection, and off-gas venting system design.


What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

•A master's Degree in Mechanical engineering with 5+ years of work experience in the fire and combustion domain or PhD degree with relevant academic research experience.


•Experience performing CFD studies in the fire engineering domain, preferably FDS, PYROSIM, ANSYS FLUENT, CFX, or Converge CFD.


•Knowledge and experience in designing and deploying fire suppression systems.


•Experience performing experimental work related to instrumentation and using sensors such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, heat flux gauges, calorimeters, and data acquisition devices. Ability to analyze and communicate test results to advance product design.


•Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.


•Comfortable working in a highly dynamic and changing environment and adapting to shifting customer priorities and market needs


•The ideal candidate will have a broad mechanical and fire engineering background and be able to work with the rest of the engineering team to improve overall product safety
