Job Description
About the role Equatic is seeking an experienced VP Project Development to lead the company’s project development activities, including project sourcing, scoping, design and delivery management. The VP Project Development will play an important role in shaping Equatic’s growth trajectory, expanding its project portfolio, and achieving its ambitious goals. The ideal candidate will possess a track record of successfully identifying and leading the development of complex engineering projects, managing diverse teams, delivering exceptional results within strict timelines and budgets, and fostering strategic partnerships. The candidate will be self-motivated to define the project development vision and play a critical role delivering a major solution to mitigate climate change. This position involves regular engagement with commercial, technical development, engineering and operations teams. The applicant must be ready to lead in an early-stage team environment.
Key Responsibilities: ● Source, evaluate, and pursue new project opportunities with strong financial viability, environmental impact, and market potential ● Actively engage with potential customers, partners, and investors to secure new business deals. Leverage your industry network and expertise to build strategic partnerships ● Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, defining scope, goals, timelines, budgets, and resources for all projects ● Manage a robust project pipeline, proactively identifying and pursuing emerging opportunities ● Oversee the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) process, securing offtake agreements, supply contracts, and key project partners ● Lead project execution, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules, while optimizing resource allocation and cost management ● Implement proactive risk management strategies and take corrective actions to minimize project disruptions ● Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project management team, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices, emphasizing operational safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence ● Provide regular project updates to senior management, clearly communicating progress, risks, mitigation plans, and financial performance ● Lead the project development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance excellence ● Stay current on emerging technologies in carbon capture and green hydrogen to inform strategic decision-making
Requirements & Qualifications
● Master’s degree in engineering, business administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience ● 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering project management, with a proven track record of success in sourcing and leading complex and multifaceted projects ● Proven ability to drive projects from conception to completion within strict timelines and budgets, while maintaining high quality standards, adhering to industry safety protocols, and navigating complex regulatory landscapes ● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences ● Extensive experience in managing and motivating cross-functional teams of technical and commercial professionals, demonstrating a strong understanding of team dynamics and the ability to foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment ● Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure, navigate complex challenges, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
