We're looking for a strong Senior Backend Engineer (all genders) who combines technical excellence with a passion for innovation. We're seeking someone with:

  • A rock-solid foundation in software engineering—from design patterns to best practices.
  • Deep technical expertise in Python, REST APIs, and SQL, with a focus on scalability, high quality, and security.
  • Natural tech-lead qualities that inspire others with fresh ideas, top engineering standards, and a collaborative spirit by example. As a Senior Backend Engineer (all genders) in our Grid Connection Squad, you will be part of an interdisciplinary engineering team that designs and builds scalable API-driven backends, complex data handling logic, and efficient database transactions to develop high-performance, scalable cloud-based software.
  • You design and optimize scalable APIs to handle complex business logic and serve precise asset data and geo-data responses efficiently.
  • You understand data algorithms and complex logic workflows and simplify them for efficiency.
  • You implement modern architecture and software design patterns to elevate the state of our code base to engineer lean, scalable SaaS products.
  • You collaborate closely with Frontend and Full-Stack engineers to build efficient backend-frontend interfaces.
  • You contribute to creating a sustainable, high-performant, and friendly team culture by example, connecting with your teammates to continuously refine and elevate our engineering standards and collaboration practices.
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical engineering concepts into our products, improving functionality and user experience. Perfection is a myth! We’re more interested in the human behind the screen, so think of these criteria as helpful directions — we're excited to see how your unique skills might fit in.

  • You have 5+ years of experience developing modern API-based applications, ideally for SaaS products within startup-like working environments.
  • You have senior-level expertise in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, with a track record of delivering efficient and maintainable solutions.
  • You have a solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and modern design patterns, which you leverage to build scalable, modular web-based products.
  • You follow effective testing and QA methodologies to ensure quality and reliability, ideally using tools like Pytest or similar testing frameworks.
  • You have proven experience leading technical decision-making in complex projects and can identify a balanced approach to trade-offs.
  • You are a motivated team player with a strong desire for professional growth and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • You are business-fluent in English (Level C1).
  • Optional big plus if you have experience in projects that combine software and electrical engineering and demonstrate an ability to integrate both domains.
  • You are located in Germany, The Netherlands, or Spain.
  • Agile working method with Kanban in interdisciplinary squads
  • Continuous integration / Continuous delivery
  • Strong testing mentality and 4-eyes principle during code reviews.
  • Constant Knowledge-Sharing practices between engineers.
  • “You Code it – You Own it” – Squad responsibility for certain functional areas of the product
