Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and strategic Social Media Manager with a passion for urban mobility, sustainability, and innovative transportation solutions to join the Bird and Spin team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and executing social media strategies for both Bird and Spin, overseeing organic and paid efforts to drive community engagement, brand awareness, and rider growth.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned social media expert with a deep understanding of platform-specific content, staying at the forefront of trends and digital innovations. You have a proven ability to craft high-impact social campaigns, with experience spanning across various digital marketing areas, such as influencer collaborations and driving community engagement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with teams across Operations, Government Partnerships, and Brand to create unified, compelling social media strategies that resonate with our audience and amplify Bird and Spin’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and evolve Bird and Spin’s social media strategy, including persona development, competitive analysis, and channel identification to prioritize platforms that best engage our target audience.
- Lead content strategy, creation, and posting for all Bird and Spin social media channels, ensuring consistency with brand values and audience preferences across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/Threads, and LinkedIn.
- Engage with the online community by posting, commenting on relevant pages, responding to follower inquiries, and fostering meaningful conversations. Redirect customer questions or support requests to appropriate service channels, ensuring a seamless experience for users.
- Drive Bird and Spin’s live content capture strategy at events, city activations, and other experiential marketing opportunities, creating engaging, on-the-ground social content.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop and refine content that resonates with our community, aligning with trends and platform-specific best practices.
- Work with influencers, from sourcing and negotiating partnerships to managing content creation and reviewing results, to amplify Bird and Spin’s brand presence.
- Analyze data and iterate strategies to ensure continuous improvement in campaign performance. Conduct post-creative reviews to understand what worked and apply those insights to future strategies.
- Identify and jump on emerging trends, both visual and audio, to proactively bring creative opportunities back to the team and ensure Bird and Spin remain at the forefront of social media.
- Manage external partners, including agencies and vendors, to enhance campaign performance, explore new platform features, and provide strategic value across Bird and Spin teams.

Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in digital or social marketing for consumer brands, or 7-10 years of experience without a degree.
Experience building a social media strategy: Persona development, Define tone and voice, Competitive Analysis, Channel identification and prioritization, Analyze data and iterate strategy
Candidates must reside in a major metropolitan area (e.g. Edmonton, Calgary,Toronto)
Experience in Executing a Social Media Strategy:
- Content creation from concept to reporting.
- Working with influencers (finding, negotiating, and content development).
- Managing platform-specific content calendars (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Reviewing creative content for future strategies.
- Reporting performance and insights to leadership.
- Understanding trends and reacting quickly to them.
Technical Skills to include experience with Capcut, Canva, Captions AI, in-app editing software, Mea Suite, LinkedIn, X(Twitter) or similiar tools.
Effective communication skills with adaptability and collaboration.
Ability to Problem-solve with keen skills with time management and attention to detail.
Proactivity and analytical thinker
Travel for occasional on-site content capture in markets where Spin or Bird operates.
