Job Description
Building Technologist - Contract
( Future Opportunities)
Please be advise that this is not an active job opening but an open intake for potential future opportunities as a Building Technologist at 5th World.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled building technologist to join our dynamic team as a contractor. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7+ years of experience as a technologist or equivalent, with a strong background in design, analysis, and project management. This role will involve leading complex engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and supporting team members. The technologist will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions to meet our company's needs and ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership:
- Lead construction projects from concept to completion.
- Manage end-to end logistics, including planning, coordination, and execution of projects and materials
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Design and Analysis:
- Design mechanical and structural components and systems using design software.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, engineering standards and regulations.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Oversee the fabrication and testing of prototypes.
- Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
- Ensure product performance and reliability.
Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Ensure all designs meet regulatory and quality standards.
Other Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction by delivering high-quality engineering solutions
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components.
- Support the production team with troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
- Assist in the preparation of technical proposals and presentations.
- Utilize design software to create detailed drawings and specifications.
- Perform site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to design standards and safety regulations.
- Engage with trades and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless project execution

- Team Leadership: Effective mentoring and support of junior designers and/or engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. Strong collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams, leading to seamless project execution.
- Technical Excellence: High-quality designs that comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Implementation of process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering department.
- Positive feedback from clients, team members, and stakeholders regarding the quality and efficiency of work.
Requirements
- Education: Engineering Technologist degree or a related field;
- Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a technologist role, with a proven track record of leading projects.
- Proficiency in appropriate design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Sketchup).
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passive Building knowledge, would be a nice to have
- BIM knowledge, would be a nice to have
